Eye Examinations
As a progressive, full-scope practice, we offer comprehensive eye exams for infants to the elderly and everyone in between. Bedford Eye Care takes pride in providing a thorough eye examination with the very latest in ocular instrumentation. When you choose to entrust your eye care to our doctors, data will be collected on your eyes with a variety of instruments and analyzed by our highly trained optometrists to form your overall clinical picture and develop a treatment plan to address all of your visual and eye health needs.Visual Fields
This test is performed on all of our patients during preliminary testing and can be repeated with more involved scans when subtle losses are detected. These losses can indicate the development of optic nerve damage such as glaucoma or can even pick up neurological problems, such as brain tumors.
Optomap Retinal Scanner
The Optomap Retinal Scanner is an integral part of our eye health assessment, providing our doctors with an unprecedented view of the back of the eye. This technology aids in the detection of eye diseases at earlier stages and allows our doctors to review the images with patients as well as email them directly to specialists when making referrals. Comparing these images from each exam also allows our doctors to follow the progression of eye disease and monitor for change. The Optomap exam is fast, easy, comfortable and safe.
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomographer)
This instrument is used when a patient is identified as needing more advanced views of the retina during routine testing and allows our doctors to view the retinal structures down to the cellular layer. This is especially helpful with more complicated retinal pathology and helps streamline referrals to ophthalmologists for tertiary care.
Corneal Topography
This instrument maps the surface architecture of the cornea and allows our doctors to detect corneal pathology and also fit specialized contact lenses like scleral lenses or rigid gas permeable lenses.
